This is an English translation of the quote :

"That the wedding was a sacrament long before Christianity (as, for instance,
the Roman ritual of confarreatio), is something that the reader may already
know. What is less known, however, is the idea that this sacrement did not act
as a conventional ceremony or as a legal-social formula, but as a sort of
baptism that transfigured and dignified the woman, leading her to partake of the
same 'mystical spirit' as the family of her husband. According to an
Indo-European ritual, which is a very expressive symbol, before being his, the
woman had to be Agni's, the mystical fire of the house. Now, the original
essential requirement, whereby the spouse was one and the same with the Lord of
the woman, and a relationship was established accordingly between them, of which
bourgeois fidelity is only the decadent and weakened by-product, is the same.
The ancient dedication of the woman who gives everything and asks nothing is the
expression of an essential heroism, much more mystical or, we would say,
'ascetic' than passionate and sentimental and, in any case, transfiguring. The
ancient saying : "There is no ritual or special teaching for the woman. She
should worship her husband like her God, and she will obtain the same celestial
seat" echoes in another tradition, in the view according to which the "solar
House of immortality" was not only reserved to the warriors fallen on the
battlefield and to the leaders of divine stock, but also to the women who died
while giving birth to a son : what was seen in this was a sacrificial offering
as supra-human as that of the heroes (….).
