RE: [evola_as_he_is] Veggenza Redux

It would be better to know the thing directly rather than the most precise definition of the thing.

In Hinduism the term for this type of 'sight' (applicable only in a metaphorical sense and not a direct epistemological one) is Darsana. This is the type of 'sight' employed from the seers, and I would assume it is also that to which Evola and Coomaraswamy are reffering.

'Darśana (intuition) is a Sanskrit word derived from the verb dRś-, "to see, intuit." It can refer to the action of seeing sculptures of deities in temples, and also to anyone of the schools of Indian philosophy. In the latter sense, darśana contains a richer experience than just the visual, as it involves other senses, veridical supramundane (alaukika) contemplation of reality, and so on.

Nyāya-kośa defines darśana as 1) visual perception; 2) knowledge (jñāna), like the one we have when wrongly getting the perlmother for silver; 3) [supernatural] knowledge that allows the yogis to see the most subtle, hidden, and distanced objects in the world as clearly and distincly as they are presented to our direct vision and within the scope of our immediate touch; 4) systematic doctrine (śāstra) which is instrumental in acquiring the knowledge about the metaphysical principles and truths (tattvas) as is, for instance, the philosophical system of Nyāya designed by the great seer Gautama. And this darśana (philosophical sysytem) is of two kinds: orthodox (astika) and unorthodox (nāstika).'

In several places, Evola explains what he means by “seeing”, or direct intuitive knowledge of reality. He opposes this type of knowing to its alternatives: the laws of empirical science, the opinions of philosophy, or the dogmas of blind faith.

In Ch 3 of the Doctrine of Awakening, he writes:
”the term veda – from the root vid, which is equivalent to the Greek id (idea) and which means ‘I see’ – refers to a doctrine based not on faith or ‘revelation’, but on a higher knowledge attained through a process of seeing. The Vedas were ‘seen’: they were seen by the rishi, by the ‘seers’ of the earliest times.”

Three heavens there are; two Savitar's, adjacent:

In Yama's world is one, home of heroes.

As on a linch-pin, firm, rest things immortal:

He who hath known it, let him here declare it.
