All our sources indicate that he was actually Jewish. If you have other sources, please do not hesistate to quote them. In any case, it would not be the first time that a Jew expressed some sympathy for Fascism.

Your first contributions to this list dedicated to J. Evola are terrific. Let me please introduce you to the membership. It will allow us to clarify for good a misunderstanding that seems widespread about our English translation of 'Heidnischer Imperialismus'.

Mr. Lutz wrote some time ago to seek permission to use excerpts from some essays published at thompkins_cariou.tripod.com (in case this is not clear, as much permission must be given by us before any essay from our website may be published on other websites, as much excerpts can be quoted at will), to use these excerpts in an essay defending Julius Evola's conception of the spiritual authority in the West, to appear in the future on Hyperion-Journal.net, his website, and possibly in its planned print journal.

We visited Hyperion-Journal.net the day after. It included a new English translation of the first chapters of 'Heidnischer Imperialismus', with a few lines of introduction stating that this new translation had to be made – by a collaborator of Mr. Lutz – from 'Heidnischer Imperialismus', thought to be the original text, because some errors had been found in our own translation. We explained to him that the original text is not 'Heidnischer Imperialismus', but the second version of 'Imperialismo pagano', written later by J. Evola for a German audience. Both texts were published in the same volume by Mediterranee in 2004, and, obviously, it is this edition that we relied upon to translate the text into English. Errors that are found in the German translation were made precisely by the German translator. Whether it was proofread by Evola before publication is another question, to which we do not have the answer.

Mr Lutz removed the page from his website as soon as he was informed of all this.

Among the interesting reprints and translations published at http://www.hyperion-journal.net/the-intelligent-americans-guide-to-russia.htm, the only one which was unknown to us - http://www.hyperion-journal.net/the-intelligent-americans-guide-to-russia.html - turned out to be also the only one whose thesis seems to us, not just completely unfounded, but contrary to all the evidence. Indeed, statements such as “All too often we in the West suffer from the impression that Russia is an ‘Asian’ country”, and “The Russian is, by nature, not at all a collectivist”, are ones one, especially one who has direct knowledge of the Russian world, certainly does not expect to read under the pen of someone who claims to have a better knowledge of Russia than Americans do. The close link between collectivism and individualism was, as we all know, brought to light by Evola. Nor does the second statement stand up to scrutiny. I drew the attention of Mr. Lutz both to https://elementsdeducationraciale.wordpress.com/2012/08/30/les-racines-occultes-du-bolchevisme, to date, by far the most comprehensive study on the roots of Bolshevism. as well as on its various modern offshoots and ideological mutations, and to ‘Eclipse of Russia’ by E.J. Dillon, one of the many sources we used to write it, which show unambiguously that, from a racial as well as from a religious and cultural standpoint, Russia is actually far more Asian in character than usually thought. May the interest he showed for Dillon's insider's study of Russia be shared by other 'Westerners' who have been given a distorted image of this country.

Thank you for having taken the time to go through previous posts before making these first informative and informed post of yours.

        Thank you for the introduction.

Regarding the Stravinsky, perhaps your sources are accurate, but there doesn't seem to be any strong indication of Jewish ancestry, after an admittedly short web search. In any case, it would seem the Jews would be eager to claim him as one of their own if there was any significant justification for it. What are your sources?

Apparently the National Socialists displayed him as a Jew in an Entartete Musik exhibit (which reportedly angered him). This may have been where Evola got the notion.

        From NYRB:

'Ignorant Nazi notions about Stravinsky and his music have scant bearing on his attitudes toward them or toward Jews. But as long as Mr. Craft has raised the point, it is worth noting that Stravinsky protested his inclusion in the 1938 Düsseldorf exhibition of “Entartete Musik.” He made formal complaint to the German Bureau of Foreign Affairs: “My adversaries even go so far as to make fallacious insinuations…implying that I am a Jew, [ignoring] that my ancestors were members of the Polish nobility.” His campaign to rehabilitate himself with the Nazis was successful. In January 1939 Herr Strecker wrote, “I can happily inform you that your standing in Germany is apparently entirely restored.” Earlier, Stravinsky had been very quick to comply with Strecker’s request that he assist in countering “rumors, particularly that of your being a Jewish Bolshevik.” Stravinsky’s declaration, dated “Holy Saturday, 1933,” volunteered, besides the requisite genealogical data establishing his Aryan and aristocratic status back to his grandparents’ generation, the additional information that “I loathe all communism, Marxism, the execrable Soviet monster, and also all liberalism, democratism, atheism, etc.” [. . .]  As for Yuri Mandelstam, Stravinsky’s unfortunate Jewish son-in-law, it was both tasteless and ill-advised of Mr. Craft to bring him up. Stravinsky and his wife were opposed to their daughter Liudmila’s choice of a husband. They took no joy in the birth of their first grandchild, Kitty. On the contrary, Catherine Stravinsky was concerned only with her little namesake’s appearance. “Very little Jewishness is noticeable,” she wrote to her touring husband of the just-born baby (!), “but what matters most is what the nose will look like later.” [. . .] Stravinsky, in a 1930 letter to Werner Reinhart: “I had never realized that you were not indifferent to these antichrist, or to the international Jewry to whom the Freemasons are servants”'

Vladimir Avdeyev is my source. It seems that his eyes are his own source.

With respect to Polish nobility, « According to the Third Lithuanian Statute of 1588, » abolished in 1764, « baptized Jews automatically were accepted to the ranks of Polish nobility (szlachta) : "If a Jew or a Jewess joined the Christian faith, then they and their descendants will be considered nobles (szlachta)"», (Jewish-Polish and Jewish-Russian Contacts, p. 84). It did not prevent some from penetrating it through various illegal or unofficial means. « They were even cases of Jews who broke their ties with their native environment and joined the ranks of the nobility without formal acceptance of the Catholic faith. » (Miscellanea historiae ecclesiasticae VI-[IX]: Les courants chrétiens de l'aufklärung en Europe de la fin du XVIIe siècle jusque vers 1830, p. 291). « They often married into old szlachta families. »

Beyond Stravinsky's case, evidence suggests that what is true of Spain (see http://critiquehistorique.blogspot.fr/2015/01/race-change-in-spanish-nobility-700-1600.html) also holds for Poland.
