RE: [evola_as_he_is] Elements of Racial Education -- Chap 16
In chapter 16, “The Type of our
Super-Race”, Evola goes into some detail regarding the characteristics of
the Roman-Aryan man, which is the ‘super-race’ from which the
Italian nation descended and the return to which is the goal of racial
education.
These are the main physical
characteristics: tall, wide shoulder, well-proportioned limbs, slender, sinewy,
and dolichocephalic (long skulled).
Mostly dark-haired, often wavy. Thin and
long nose. A penetrating and firm look, and gestures that extend a conscious
thought, and are not impulsive and uncoordinated.
Evola lists the main virtues (not in the
moralistic sense of the word) of the ancient Roman type of the Nordic-Aryan
race:
1)Brave virility
2)Fortitudo
and Constantia, or the fortress of the mind
3)Sapienta,
or wise reflection
4)Humanitas
and disciplina, or the ideal of a firm formation of oneself
5)Gravitas,
dignity and inner calm
6)Fides
or fidelity
7)Love
for precise action
8)Pietas
and religion, or feeling of respect for the divine and suprasensible forces
The ancient Aryan-Roman man saw the world
as a “cosmos”, as a whole of very distinct natures connected
amongst themselves not by promiscuity but on the basis of higher law.
The ideal of hierarchy, in which
personality is reconciled in a higher unity.
Women placed neither too low nor too high.
No preoccupation with sex, affirmation of the paternal right, and the authority
of a virile leader of the family and the people.
In order for these elements of the race of
the spirit and soul, a “particular collective spiritual environment will
be necessary”. Not because man is formed by his environment rather than by
heredity, but because the influence of the environment will favour the manifestation
of already existing characteristics.
Therefore, it is necessary to create an
environment “saturated with spiritual forces and heroic vocations”
to produce the climate needed by the ‘super-race’ in order to reawaken.
