"How is it, in general, that this was possible?"
(Julius Evola, 'The Problem of Decadence')
While the emperor Augustus always made sure his wife, Livia, occupied
the place traditionally assigned to a woman of the aristocracy in
ancient Rome (incidentally, Napoléon 1st is one of the very few
modern European leaders to have had a typically Roman attitude toward
women), Trajan was not the only emperor who could be reached by the
Jewish leaders in Rome through his wife.
Following the Great Fire in Rome in the year 64, an investigation
concluded that the fire had been started by Jewish fanatics. This put
the Jewish community in Rome in danger, and Jewish leaders in Rome
may have tried to avert this danger by describing to authorities the
difference between themselves and the Christians, which, still at
that time, was not very clear to Roman Patricians. It looks like
Sabina Poppaea, Nero's new wife, helped him making the 'difference'
and putting the blame on Christians for the fire.
Two thousand years later, it is most interesting to note the high
number of Western self-proclaimed esotericists married to Jewish
women and who claim to make us discover again 'our' heathen roots.
That kind of marriage even seems to be a requirement in the field of
Runic studies.
