A note to add: this little known event, the prelude to the "Northern Crusades" popularized by Sergei Eisenstein's "Alexander Nevsky," was a papal-endorsed crusade against Slavic and Baltic pagans who worshiped gods virtually identical to that of classic Norse mythology.
The Wendish Crusade was led by Duke Henry the Lion, a Guelph prince. The House of Guelph being the main antagonist to the Ghibellines, according to Evola was the house which began the spread of the seeds of egalitarian natural-law subversion in Europe during the High Middle Ages.
This historical novel explores the historically documented insidious relationship between the Guelphs and the Catholic Church, a relationship which annihilated Indo-European paganism in Europe forever. It is based on primary sources such as Saxo Grammaticus and the Chronica Slavorum as well as The Russian Primary Chronicle and other contemporary accounts of the Northern Crusades which later became led by the Teutonic Knights of the Holy Roman Empire.
