When we find out that some of the articles on
http://thompkins_cariou.tripod.com have been copied and pasted onto
another site without our prior consent, we write to the owner of the
site and we ask him to be so kind as to remove them from his site,
and we don't feel like airing the whole thing in public, by means,
for instance, of a post, neither on this list, nor on any other list,
since we consider this to be a private matter, which doesn't concern
in any way the reader.

Today, we make an exception to the rule. We make it for the simple
reason that the owner of an Italian site, who copied and pasted four
of the texts from http://thompkins_cariou.tripod.com , and who was
asked to remove them from his site when we found out about it,
thought it was a good thing to air the whole thing in public, by
posting a message onto its own forum, yesterday afternoon. This is
our right to reply, all the more necessary as a few Italians have
joined our list.

"Tempo addietro abbiamo inserito tra l'elenco dei nostri link il sito
inglese "Evola as he is". All'interno di tale sito abbiamo
considerato 4 articoli interessanti e li abbiamo pubblicati su
juliusevola.it; naturalmente abbiamo anche inviato una email ai
curatori del sito per segnalare loro la cosa. Non abbiamo ricevuto
risposta e, dopo circa 2 settimane, abbiamo provveduto alla
pubblicazione. Naturalmente citando autore e fonte (come peraltro
facciamo sempre).

"Some time ago, we added to our links the English site "Evola as he
is". We found four of their articles interesting, and we decided to
publish them on juliusevola.it ; naturally, we sent an email to the
publishers to let them know about it. We didn't get any reply, and,
two weeks or so later, we published them. Naturally, we quoted our
source (as we always do).

This afternoon, I receive an email from one of the publishers, who
ordered me most angrily to remove straight away the material in
question because it is protected by copyright. We have replied to
this email, and, naturally, we have removed this material.

I inform you of this, since I think that the question is vast and
doesn't only concern us as publishers of juliusevola.it, but the
whole juliusevola.it community."

All this is true, except that we didn't order him - firmly, but
politely - to remove those four texts because they are protected by
copyrights. We ordered him to remove them because we don't want them
to be found on this particular site, for reasons which we explained
to him in private. It's as simple as that.

As for this email which was sent to us and to which we didn't reply,
we answer every email we receive (save those from that caring girl
who sells Viagra on line, and of whom many of you have probably
heard), provided that we actually receive it. We didn't receive his
email. Interestingly enough, a few days ago, the owner of
www.juliusevola.it posted onto his forum a message about Fondazione
Julius Evola, in which he said he contacted it to ask its owner
permission to publish on his site some of the texts published by it,
but, having not received any reply, he decided not to publish any of
them.

Once again, anyone is free to translate any text by Evola into
English or into another language and to publish it in book or on the
InterNet, but not anyone is free to copy and paste texts, whether
those of Evola or of others, without the prior consent of the
publisher. Basically, it's common sense.
