It's been almost three years since the English section of
http://thompkins_cariou.tripod.com/ was last updated. Meanwhile, the French
section keeps on been updated, albeit not frequently (festina lente), to the
utmost delight of those non Italian-speaking and non-French-speaking readers of
J.Evola who seem to find it less difficult to read French than Italian. And so
will it be again, sooner or later, with a new French translation of the first
part of 'Metafisica del sesso', a work which was first translated clumsily by
Y.J. Torta in the late 1950's, then, far more satisfactorily, yet too literally,
from a lexical as well as from a syntactical standpoint, by P. Baillet in the
early 1980's. On the other hand, the English, or rather the American translation
of 'Metafisica del sesso', published by Inner Traditions as 'The Metaphysics of
Sex : Eros And The Mysteries Of Love', took many liberties, in more than one
respect, with the original text, so many liberties that it sounds less like an
actual translation than a paraphrase, and, in various parts, a faulty one at
that, filled as it is with interpretations, approximations and, at times, utter
mistranslations ; moreover, important sentences, important parts of paragraphs
were omitted. Clearly, the whole thing does not sound like Evola at all.

An unbelievably clumsy translation of 'Il Mito del sangue' was published as 'Le
Mythe du Sang' by the French publisher L'Homme Libre in 2000. It sounds like a
new translation of it, of which the ninth chapter was published by us a few
years ago at http://thompkins_cariou.tripod.com/id29.html/, will sooner or later
be
printed by the same publisher. Meanwhile, the eighth chapter, dealing with the
racist conception of law, will be published at the same address as soon as our
august and dedicated collaborator Vandermok finds time to edit the page in
question.

Festina lente.
