The rotation of the swastika around the terrestrial axis corresponds also to the beginning of the linear time, after that obscure fracture or fall, of which the inclination of the axis itself represented only the visible result. Astronomically, that time, or better, space-time, expresses also the solar movement along the two arms of the swastika: solstices and equinoxes.
The four elements, defined by the swastika, in the Vedanta are symbolized by four streams in which is divided the celestial Ganges, dropping onto the top of the sacred mountain Meru.
By a consequence, this world axis, prime motionless mover, sacred tree or pillar, is also expressed by the famous primordial celestial bull, very steady on its four legs in the beginning, but loosing one leg at every new Yuga or Age.
These figures have been imitated by other traditions: the colossus with the feet of clay, the four river of the paradise, and naturally the 'fall' considered as sin by the moralistic Judaic-Christian consciousness.

Contrary to other symbols, such as the circle, the cross, the point,
whose forms developed spontaneously, the swastika is not an
elementary sign which could have been 'invented' and 'reinvented'
infinitely in all places and in all times. The swastika, which was
the first sign drawn with a spiritual-magic intention and which had a
constant signification, became universal only after the migration and
the scattering of the people which was originally its bearer, and
which spread it as it scattered. The idea of gyration which is linked
with the swastika implies necessarily the existence of a precise
geographical point as an axis around which it revolves. Now, the
locating of such place can only be made in relation to a terrestrial
or celestial sphere, that is to say, to a North/South vertical axis,
the Nordic-polar axis, the 'world axis' of the ancients, where,
according to ancient authors, the 'celestial column' on which the
pole star 'rests' is found.
That Nordic-polar or boreal location brings us back to that arctic
habitat whose memory has remained in the traditions of most peoples.
It is the Supreme and Primordial Centre - Parudesha - where Golden
Age - the kritayuga, which lasted 1 728 000 years - existed, and
which was inhabited by "transparent men" according to Herodotus ; it
was the seat of the white race and of the whole humanity, which
constituted only one caste, Hamsa's (...), the bearer of Supreme
knowledge and non human revelation (apaurushęya). The various names
of that land according to traditions are mentioned : it is, for
instance, the Svęta-dvîpa, the 'Island of Splendour' of the Aryans
and of Vedic texts, the Midhgardh of Nordics, the Tula or Thule of
Graeco-Romans.
There was a perfect harmony between spiritual and material realities,
bringing about justice, truth, peace, and wealthiness. The members of
that boreal race had only two types of complementary attitudes :
passive indetermination (yin) with respect to the Principle and
active impersonality (yang) with respect to the Cosmos. The harmony
between the supreme Principle and primordial humanity was such that
the latter lived in a state of androgyny.
Around 18000-20000 B.C., a 'rupture' between the primordial race and
the supreme Principle occurred, causing original androgyny
to 'splinter', as a result, according to ancient texts, of the
infiltration of 'influences' coming from the subtle plane. Vedic
texts such as the Prakîrnaka tell us that, from that moment,
the "infernal wheel" of corrupting involution, to which all beings
and all things were about to be subject, started to "grate" : "the
swastika started to grate on its axis"
That 'rupture', by virtue of the correspondence between microcosms
and macrocosms, was accompanied fatally with huge cosmic disruptions.
Around 10 500 B.C. : declination of 90 per cent of the earth's axis,
most probably to the left ; increase of the distance of the earth
from the sun ; reduction of the speed of rotation of the earth around
the sun ; increase of the duration of rotation of the earth around
itself ; flood of water and fire ; increase of the length of the
annual cycle ; advent of seasons ; capture by the earth of the
current moon. The Nordic-polar land became uninhabitable, was covered
with ice and experienced a long night. Thus, the Boreal people
migrated, carried its culture from place to place, its cult, its
spiritual supports, especially certain data taken from primordial
tradition, and its symbols, of which the most important was the
swastika.
