On a similar note Kerenyi notes one of the surnames of Aphrodite as Androphonos, "man killer" (in Gods of the Greeks) along with some other surnames that have connotations with death and the underworld. All suggestive of a cult of Aphrodite that practiced human sacrifice - probably similar to that found in the worship of Kali, to whom only a male (the Blood Tantras specifically state a human one) is ever sacrificially offered is a ritual setting. I have noted that this one particular aspect of the goddess is the one to whom feminists (notably Barbara Walker) aspire to as an ideal role model. I think that probably exemplifies part of Bachofen's hypothesis quite nicely.

the fact, rightly pointed out andd studied by Weininger, accurately
sensed by Nietzsche, that the Jew is, along with the Chinese, the
most feminine people 'on earth', and that one of the names of Apollo,
the hyperborean god par excellence, was 'the enemy of woman' (see
Bachofen's 'Das Mutterrecht').
